Powering Ireland with clean energy

We currently have 20 onshore wind farms in operation across Ireland, producing 373 MW of clean energy – the equivalent of powering 250,000 homes. We also have a pipeline of projects at various stages of development. Find out more about our presence in Ireland.

In operation

Across Ireland, our team has been managing operational wind farms since 1997. We are proud to operate these assets in communities the length and breadth of the island of Ireland.

Repowering

The average lifespan of a wind turbine is 20-25 years – meaning many of Ireland’s early wind farms are now reaching the end of their operational life. But what happens to the wind farm after this? Repowering is the next step for many renewable energy developers. This means replacing ageing turbines with fewer, taller, more efficient models that can generate significantly more electricity from the same sites.

Kilgarvan Repower

Perigus Energy is in the process of developing a new renewable energy proposal to repower the existing Kilgarvan I and Kilgarvan II wind farms.

This will replace 28 turbines at existing wind farms, totalling 77.5 MW, with up to 11 more modern machines.

The site is located in Co. Kerry, approximately 7km north-east of Kilgarvan village and approximately 7.5km west of Coolea, Co. Cork.

Owenreagh/Craignagapple Repower

Perigus Energy is developing a new wind energy proposal to repower the Owenreagh I & II Wind Farms which have been operational since 1997 and 2008 respectively, and to modify and extend the consented Craignagapple Wind Farm.

With 14 wind turbines, this wind energy proposal would increase the total installed capacity across Owenreagh I & II Wind Farms and the consented turbines at Craignagapple from 24 MW to somewhere between 63 MW and 67 MW.
